Maimonides Medical Center presented a Health Information Technology
And the Future of Healthcare Symposium on May 27, 2009.  The program provided an understanding of the power and utility of health information technology (HIT) and the framework for participants to plan for funding and implementation of HIT in their practice.  Among the HIT Symposium presenters was Irene Koch, Executive Director of BHIX.  Ms Koch addressed a group of employed and voluntary community physicians, physician assistants, nurses and medical students, who were part of a day-long program. At the conclusion of this symposium, participants came away with a comprehension of health information technology nomenclature, initiatives and approaches/systems with an awareness of key HIT provisions of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, ARRA.
